How to save book recommendations from Reels and TikTok

A Reel names five books in forty seconds. You save it, meaning to look them up, and the look-up never happens: the titles are in the video, the authors were never said, and the shop wants both. Here is how to do it by hand, and how to hand the job over.

Why a saved book list stays a video

The caption in Instagram and TikTok cannot be selected, and a title said once is gone. Creators rarely say the author, and a title alone is someone else’s book as often as not: search any one-word title and see.

So the list lives in your Saved tab, between a recipe and a workout, where no search will find it the next time you walk into a bookshop.

The manual way, with no extra app

This works with the apps already on your phone.

  1. Check the caption and the comments

Open the full caption and the pinned comment: a book post often lists the titles there, sometimes with the authors.

  2. Write them down with the author

One note per video: title and author for each book, and the link to the video (Share, then Copy link). For a book named without its author, search the title with a word from how the video described it, and note the author you find.

  3. Keep one want-to-read list

Add each book to the list in your reading app or store, so the next time you shop you look in one place.

Free and reliable, and a few minutes per video. The author search is the part that gets skipped.

The Inboxy way

Inboxy reads the video and sends the books back as a list, each one checked against a catalog and linked to where you can get it.

  1. Copy the link

In Instagram or TikTok tap Share, then Copy link. A YouTube link works the same way.

  2. Send it to Inboxy

Paste the link into a chat with @InboxyAIBot in Telegram. On an iPhone you can skip the copying: tap Share and pick Inboxy.

  3. Let it read the list

Inboxy takes the caption, what is said and the text shown in the frames, and picks out every book named there, with its author when the video gives one.

  4. It checks every book

A book counts as found when a catalog has this title by this author: Apple Books first, which has Russian and Ukrainian editions too, then Open Library. A found book gets its cover. A book named without its author stays a search, and the card says so.

  5. Open it where you read or buy

A found book opens in Apple Books or Open Library. Under each book: a search for it in Google Play Books, Amazon and Yakaboo.

Lists keep their theme. In a digest and in the answer to a question, the books stay under the title of the post they came from: “Five books on sleep” stays that list. Ask “which books did I save about focus?” and the answer cites the save.

What to expect, honestly

  • A book named without its author is never matched: the title alone is too often another book. It is listed as a search.
  • The catalog’s edition can differ from the one in the video: a translation, another cover.
  • The store links are searches. Inboxy does not know the price or whether the store has that edition.
  • Inboxy does not sell or download books.
  • The video has to be public. Inboxy reads it from the link and cannot see private accounts.
  • The Free plan covers 50 saves a month.

Questions

How do I find the books from a Reel I saved?

Open the caption and the pinned comment first: a book post often lists the titles there. If they were only said, write them down with the author, or send the link to Inboxy and get the list with each book checked against a catalog.

Why is one book on the card a search and not a link?

Either the video never named its author, or no catalog has that title by that author. Inboxy does not guess: a wrong book is worse than a search.

Which stores does it link to?

Apple Books and Open Library when the book is found there, and a search for it in Google Play Books, Amazon and Yakaboo.

Is it free?

The Free plan includes 50 saves a month. Pro removes the monthly limits.
