How to find a saved Reel

You saved it, you know you did, and now it is somewhere under a wall of covers. Here is where to look, in the order that finds it fastest - and how to stop doing this.

Where to look, in order

Instagram moves its menus between versions, so treat the labels below as the thing to look for, not an exact path.

  1. Open Saved

Go to your profile, open the menu and tap Saved. Everything you bookmarked is there, along with any collections you made.

  2. Check your collections

If you sort saves into collections, open the one it would have gone to. A collection is a much shorter wall to scan.

  3. Ask what you actually did

Did you save it, like it, or send it to someone? Posts you liked are listed under Your activity. A Reel you sent is still in that chat: open the conversation and scroll to it.

  4. Go through the creator

If you remember who posted it, open their profile and look in the Reels tab. It is often faster than your own Saved.

  5. Search for the words

Use Instagram search with the words you remember from the caption or the topic, together with the creator’s name if you have it.

If none of these finds it, the Reel may have been deleted. A saved Reel does not survive its owner removing it.

Why this is hard

Saved is a grid of covers. You can sort it into collections, but you look for a video by what its cover looks like, not by what was said in it. The thing you remember - “the one about the three-ingredient sauce” - is inside the video, where a grid cannot show it.

So the fix is not a better way to scroll. It is having the words.

Make the next one findable

Two habits. One is manual, one is not.

  • By hand: save into a named collection at the moment you save, and for anything you really need, paste the link into a note with one line on what it was.
  • With Inboxy: when you save a Reel, also share it to Inboxy. It turns the video into text you can search.

How Inboxy does it

  1. Share the Reel

Tap Share on the Reel and pick Inboxy on an iPhone, or copy the link and send it to @InboxyAIBot in Telegram.

  2. It reads the video

The speech is transcribed. When nobody speaks, the text on screen is read instead. The caption is kept too.

  3. It files the note

Essence, key points and action items, with a category and tags assigned for you.

  4. You search by what you remember

Type “three-ingredient sauce”, or ask “what was that stretch for lower back pain?” Search works by meaning, and an answer cites the save it came from, with the link back to the Reel.

It also brings saves back without being asked: a digest of what you saved, and a daily “remember this?” card.

Questions

Where are my saved Reels on Instagram?

On your profile, open the menu and tap Saved. The Reels you bookmarked are there, along with any collections you created.

Can I search my saved Reels by what was said in them?

Instagram shows Saved as a grid of covers that you can sort into collections. To search by the words in a video you need those words as text: your own notes, or a tool like Inboxy that transcribes each Reel you send it.

Can Inboxy import my Instagram saved posts?

No. It works on the Reels and links you share to it from now on.

Why did a saved Reel disappear?

If the owner deletes the Reel, it is gone from your Saved as well.
