A Recall alternative built around short video

Recall is a knowledge base for people who study what they save. Inboxy is a smaller tool with a narrower aim: make saved Reels, TikToks and videos useful, from your phone or from Telegram. Here is the honest overlap.

Last checked: September 30, 2026

Who this page is for

You are looking at Recall, or already use it, and what you actually save is short video from Instagram and TikTok - often from your phone, often in Ukrainian or Russian.

If you want a knowledge graph, quizzes and a browser extension that works while you read, Recall does that and Inboxy does not. If you want to forward a Reel to a bot and get a searchable, checkable note back, read on.

Where Recall is better

Recall is a bigger product, and in these areas it is simply ahead.

  • Browser extension

Recall has extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, and its Augmented Browsing brings related saves back while you read. Inboxy has no browser extension.

  • Knowledge graph

Recall links related content and draws it as a graph. Inboxy files each save under a category and tags, and stops there.

  • Quizzes and spaced repetition

Recall generates quizzes from what you saved and schedules them for long-term retention. Inboxy shows a daily review card and sends digests. It does not quiz you.

  • Android and the web

Recall runs as a web app and on Android. Inboxy’s Android app is still in development and there is no web app.

  • Podcasts and timestamps

Recall summarizes podcasts, and its summaries carry timestamps. Inboxy does neither.

  • Import, API and model choice

Paid Recall plans import bookmarks and Markdown notes in bulk, every plan has API and MCP access, and Max lets you pick the AI model. Inboxy has no importer, no public API and no model picker.

Where Inboxy is different

Narrower, and built for a phone and a feed rather than a desk and a browser.

  • Capture through Telegram

Forward a link, a post or a voice message to @InboxyAIBot. There is no app to open and nothing to install.

  • Text on screen

When a video has no usable speech - a recipe set to music, a list that flashes by - Inboxy reads the text in the frames. Photo carousels are read slide by slide.

  • One-tap fact-check

Any saved post can be checked claim by claim against live web sources. It is AI working from search results: a sourced second opinion, not a ruling.

  • English, Ukrainian, Russian

The interface and the notes are in your language, whatever language the video speaks. Any summary translates in a tap.

  • It comes back to you

Digests, reminders, a daily “remember this?” review card and a to-do list built from the action items in your saves.

  • Summaries on the Free plan

Inboxy’s Free plan summarizes every save, up to 50 saves a month. Recall’s Free plan saves without limit and includes 10 AI summaries a month. Which is more depends on how you save.

Moving from Recall

Recall lets you export your notes to Markdown at any time. Inboxy has no importer for that export, or for anything else.

Moving means saving again: send the source links you care about to the Telegram bot, or share them to the iOS app, and Inboxy writes its own note for each. Your Recall notes, connections and quiz history do not come across.

The two can also sit side by side: a study tool for long material, and Inboxy for what you save from your feed.

Questions
